How old should you talk to your kids about sex?

My oldest son is almost 10 now! Kids are having sex younger and younger now and I am not sure when I need to get serious with the sex talk. We have talked about what not to do but when is appropriate to explain it all?

When he starts asking questions about it, there is no point in hiding the truth, he'll start to want to find out for himself if you don't tell him the truth about it. Usually start talking to them around the age they start puberty, which is i'm guessing 12
